  4.     The Dow Jones industrial average's 190-point drop on Friday
  5. the 13th (BUSINESS, Oct. 23) has precipitated a deluge of
  6. hypotheses, explanations and guesses by financiers, money managers,
  7. economists and strategists. The sell-off is attributed to
  8. computer-driven sales, the fall-through of the UAL buyout, circuit
  9. breakers, junk-bond defaults, declining interest rates and economic
  10. slowdown. The plunge is just an adjustment. Bargain hunters will
  11. drive the prices up while the problems remain. What really happened
  12. is that the greedy ran out of suckers to take the paper off their
  13. hands at a higher price.
